Imelda May releases her new single ‘Psycho’ on June 28.

Imelda may be an unknown name to some, but to many she is already a superstar. She is unmistakable both in her music (a fusion of surf guitars, blues and rockabilly that wouldn’t be out of place in a David Lynch film) and her style, with a solitary curl and shock of blonde in her jet black hair.

In her home country, Ireland, her debut album ‘Love Tattoo’ (which she recorded and released on her own label) has gone Triple Platinum. She has shared a stage with U2, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, Scissor Sisters, Lionel Richie and, most recently, the first lady of rockabilly, Wanda Jackson. And now, with the release of her new album ‘Mayhem’ on September 6, she is about to go stellar.

‘Psycho’ sees Imelda displaying some of her more disparate influences, as if PJ Harvey's "Sheela Na Gig" had been recorded in the Ace cafe in North London in front of a load of rockers.

Psycho’ will be available digitally, and as a limited edition pink 7” with bonus track ‘My Baby Left Me’.

Imelda will play the following tour dates in May:

May 20 Tunbridge Wells - Assembly Hall Theatre
    May 21 Gloucester - Guildhall
May 23 Leamington Spa – The Assembly
May 24 Peterborough – Cressett Theatre
May 25 Basingstoke – The Anvil
May 29 Halifax – Victoria Theatre

This is followed by 7 dates supporting Jeff Beck in the US. Fans can also catch Imelda performing at Glastonbury, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Cornbury Music Festival, WOMAD and the Hop Farm Festival.

Imelda’s new album ‘Mayhem’ is released on September 6.
