About
Charly is a german artist coming from Stuttgart region born in 1977.
Bio:
1977: Charly samples the sound of a bursting uterus.
1988: Songs like Stakker-Humanoid where his first experience in electronic music in the acid house main stream time. It took a while until he found his love.
1991: In the early 90s he gambled around and broke his fingers on a e-guitar, forced to play Jimi Hendrix by his music teacher where he wanted to play Metallica and Sex Pistols.
1992: His first electronic music "production" was a remix of "U96-Das Boot" on a Amiga 500 he had borrowed from a friend. What a pitty, mom allready bought an e-guitar now that he knew he wanted to investigate in electronic music. "No, a home studio is NOT an instrument."
1992: Mom again - as she didn't want to buy a proper computer he was again forced to use Mario Paint's awesome 4 track sequenzer
with exclusive Nintendo-comic sounds for about one year. Song.Save was a feature that would have been really cool. :(
1993: With the age of 15 - after a personal computer was good state of the art enough to buy one - he began to arrange songs with dos-tracker software.
1994: When listening to old school detroit tunes charly found the deepness of his relation to electronic underground club music around detroit and berlin.
1995: In the age of 18 he bought his first two synthesizers, a waldorf microwave and a novation drum station. Most of the songs he made in his early days got lost on tapes he borrowed to friends. He would like to look back on various live acts and releases but he was too introverted to make up contact with the right guys. But some of the guys he met in clubs these days became the right guys, started working proffesionally in this scope in the meantime and old fellows shall meet each other again over 10 years later these days...
2010: Until these days Charly produced and released semi proffesional tracks in private scope. After the apocalypse had reached his weird brain and some silent time after this, one could now meet him again rocking in Stuttgarts nice little clubs - still on the wrong side of the dance floor. In 2010 Charly decided to reach more people with his music improving his producing skills rapidly. In this year he had his first official release on Robin Hirte's stylex EP. He also started DJing having his first live set in one of Stuttgarts legendary underground locations Beatkeller 61 on silvester 2010.
2011: Charly developed his own constant individual style which is too melodic to be tech house, too funky for deep-house, too deep to be called acid and much too sophisticated for click-clack minimal. As it won't fit into any label Charly knew or could reach he founded his own label "Charly Beck Records" releasing his first offical Album "Natural Human Enemy" in April 2011.
