Another tune made from old samples of members of my family. I thought that the different voices were so touching and musical, just as themselves, so I constructed this tune from them, with a little piano, and the birds and trees outside..
The poem is "Rainbow Revelations" by Yoko Ono, words that meant a lot to me at the time. I recorded everyone in an upstairs bedroom, on an old tape recorder. I never did anything with it until now. 16 years later, and lots of changes, these voices sound so poignant to me now.
My youngest brother was only small, and my Dad was pretty embarrassed I think, but I love the blending and contrasts of their voices. My Gran used to be an actress when she was young, and I think that her reading of the poem is lovely. Sadly she passed away this year, and so I dedicate this to her. Voices lost are even more so precious.
The other voices are a Russian university professor, and a French dance student friend.
I would be interested to hear how this comes across to people who do not know these people personally..
