I've just finished reading Juliet Nicholson's book "The Perfect Summer", and Laurence Rees's book "The Nazis: A Warning From History".

LYRIC
Endless summer days that seemed like heaven,
Loving all the precious time we'd spend,
Knowing daily,
How we lived in perfect bliss,
Laughing gaily,
As we danced on the abyss.

Travel back in time: 1911,
How I wished those days would never end.
I remember,
How we danced all summer long,
'Til September,
When the dark clouds came along.

It was just another,
Perfect summer.
It was just another,
Perfect summer.

Saw the stats, and the numbers,
Heard the pleas in defence,
Read the books, and the theories,
But it still made no sense.

What went wrong with the world?
What went wrong with the world?
What went wrong with the world?
What went wrong with the world?

(Instrumental break + guitar solo)

Why,
Is it just so hard to imagine it?
A single death is tragic,
A million is just a statistic.

What went wrong with the world?
What went wrong with the world?
What went wrong with the world?
What went wrong with the world?

Now,
I've read of things that I'd never do,
But if you stare into the abyss,
The abyss also stares into you,
The abyss also stares into you,
The abyss also stares into you,
The abyss also stares into you.
