Joseph Caserta (now known simply as Caserta) is a multifaceted DJ & Producer based out of Boston, Massachusetts. Growing up the son of a drummer, Caserta was exposed to a wide range of music from quite the early age. Funk and Soul classics by the likes of The Average White Band, Tower of Power, Luther Vandross, etc were all staples in the Caserta household throughout his childhood and teen years.
At a time where Hip Hop reigned supreme over radio and MTV, Caserta admits to not always being head over heels for his father's music selections. However, as time passed his ear became more refined. Caserta began to notice the influence those same songs his father played had on Hip Hop.
As Caserta got older, his father looked for a better way to provide for him than on a local musician's salary. Considering his musical background, DJing became somewhat of a natural fit. The elder Caserta was quickly able to pick up beat matching and set preparation, skills that were soon passed on to his son.
Having assisted his father on countless gigs and doing small functions on his own, Caserta always knew there was something more out there for him to explore musically. It wasn't until his junior year in high school that he would meet his soon to be best friend, Ashmead "Ash" Arjune. Ash was an aspiring rapper with a copy of Sonic Foundry's Acid Pro on his computer. Caserta became obsessed! He began crafting self-described "horrendous beats" out of the stock loops that came with Acid while recording Ash's vocals. With the musical flame being sparked, Caserta went from doing everything from Hip Hop mixtapes to high school cheering music. He would use any excuse to get behind the computer and edit something.
Things haven't changed much for Caserta since his junior year of high school. When his early love of Hip Hop matured into a passion for House music, Caserta has been behind the computer working on music ever since. With his recently completed debut, EP "The Accomplishment," being released on Scott Diaz's Connect:d imprint, the future continues to look bright!
