The storm before the silence
cartoonband on March 09, 2012 04:39
A rock band rich in references which, like in the cartoons, uses various languages to create a free and unpredictable sound, without creative limits. This is Cartoon.
Formed by Khadhu, Bhydhu, Khykho and Raphael, Cartoon has released three recordings: “Estribo” (“Stirrup”) (2008), the rock opera “Bigoma” (“Anvil”) (2002) and “Martelo” (“Hammer”) (1999). Their discography forms the trilogy of a symbolic journey of the human ear, searching for the highest quality sound. Their compositions use classical and popular themes, extremely careful arrangements, and exotic instruments. The lyrics bring forth curious and good-natured ideas, while at the same time deal with feelings and complex issues such as spirituality.
Cartoon’s unique sound is the result of the harmonic combination of Classic Rock with influences that include Brazilian, oriental, classic, the Blues, country, folk, progressive rock music and the sounds of bands from the 60s and 70s. It is worth hearing it, to understand it.
