For the story of these musicians and their roots, please check out the exhibit "Soul Souvenirs: Durham's Musical Memories from the 1960s and 1970s" at the Hayti Heritage Center in Durham from April 19th through May 31st. "Soul Souvenirs" is part of Bull City Soul Revival, a project of the Durham County Library Foundation, made possible by a grant from the North Carolina Humanities Council.

From 1979, this lone single by the Essence of Truth is a remake of “Squeeze That Dollar” by the Positive Approach. Vernelle Mack and Larry Scurlock tailored the new vocals to the party goers at the fraternity houses that the band often played.
