Not many DJ’s in the industry can claim that they have performed at some of the worlds biggest venues in club land, London based international DJ and dance music producer, Carl Hanaghan has performed at some of the worlds biggest clubs and festivals alongside an elite of A-List DJs and producers alike.
Carl has well and truly lived the dream having performed all over the world for clubbing super-brand Hed Kandi whilst also shared the billings with some of his heroes including D.Ramirez (Toolroom), ATFC (Defected Records), Michael Gray (Full Intention), Seamus Haji (Big Love), StoneBridge (Stoney Boy), The Soul Avengerz (Soda), Tall Paul (The Gallery) and Gareth Wyn (Cream) to name but a few.
During his time with Hed Kandi, Carl has performed to packed out venues including the Pacha brand’s venues in Sao Paolo (Brazil), Munich (Germany), Sharm El Shiek (Egypt) and London, Space, El Divino, Eden, Es Paradis (all based in Ibiza), Cocoon (Frankfurt, Germany), Ministry of Sound (London & Kuala Lumpur) and Gatecrasher (Birmingham, Nottingham & Leeds) to name but a few. In 2009, Carl performed at Space in Ibiza for the Hed Kandi brand and was unofficially awarded ‘Most Entertaining” DJ of the season by the brands team on the island. Carl officially became a resident DJ for Hed Kandi in December 2006.
Carl’s productions and collaborations have been highly rated by the world’s biggest DJs. In February 2010 he achieved a lifetime goal in attaining the number 1 position in the DMC Buzz Chart with ‘Subida’, a collaboration with My Digital Enemy. The track was picked up by Roger Sanchez’s ‘Stealth Records’ and was the collaborations forth record together. Previous collaborations with the Brighton based duo were signed to London based Cr2 Records, Australia’s Vacation Records fronted by Bass Kleph and Carl’s own label Discopolis Recordings. His remixes have also featured in many an International DJ’s set having remixed for labels such as Hed Kandi, Cr2 Records and Tom De Neef’s Jacksquad Records to name but a few.
Several of his productions and remixes have gone on to be included on many a compilation album worldwide including Hed Kandi’s “World Series Ibiza”, “The Mix : Spring 2009”, “World Series Brazil”, “Beach House 2009”, Bloomingdale “Bloomingdale 2009”, Cr2 Records present “Miami 2009” & “Ibiza 2009” and Housexy’s “Summer 2009” to name but a few.
Carl has mixed and compiled several compilation album’s during his career including the new ‘Playboy Sessions – Las Vegas’ CD, Hed Kandi’s ‘World Series Tokyo’ and the digital only album ‘This Is House’, a collaboration between the industries biggest house music labels such as Defected, Toolroom, Mau5trap, Strictly Rhythm and many more. The above to be the main highlights from over 20 albums worldwide.
Not only a DJ, Carl lives day in, day out in the music industry and is currently working in the A&R department at Hed Kandi whilst also fronting his own label Discopolis Recordings. Carl previously worked for the Ministry of Sound between 2006 and 2009 as A&R and head of DJ promotions and has also had spells with Defected & Cr2 Records.
