Carl Fox's debut album, Chunky Rainbow (released totally independently and out on iTunes in Australia and New Zealand) was written, recorded and mixed in Carl Fox’s home studio and reveals tales of utopian dreams, magical places, and his experiences during a one-year journey through Switzerland.
Pegged as indietronica or “twee electro indie-pop” by Triple J Home and Hosed presenter Dom Alessio, the album is an interesting mix of live instrumentation and electronics. Songs are minimal and raw, breaking-out into beautiful melodies and melancholic instrumentals.
Title track, Chunky Rainbow, got played on Triple J and was championed by Vijay Khurana on Lunch with Vijay and was featured on a Triple J Unearthed podcast. The Drum Media Perth says, “Carl Fox’s new album is a mighty fine piece of cutesy indietronica worth smiling to” and the Sydney Telegraph gave it 3 & 1/2 stars saying it is an "impressive solo album of gentle electronic pop".
Carl Fox plays live as a six-piece made up of members from his indie-rock-pop band Good Little Fox and rockers Luna Parade. After only six months of playing tracks from Chunky Rainbow live, Carl Fox has played St Jeromes Laneway Festival, One Movement, Norfolk Lanes Youth Festival, RTRFM Winter Music Festival and Northbridge Festival and supported Purple Sneakers DJs, Grafton Primary, Amy Meredith, Tim & Jean, The Panda Band and The Touch.
