This recording was captured during week two of the 2012 Conscious Breath Adventures Silver Bank humpback whale season. I originally put the hydrophone in the water to listen to and record a singing whale, but there was a local commercial fishing vessel anchored nearby with its fleet of small skiffs working. Instead of whales, I got an earful of ocean noise pollution, one of the growing threats to whales and marine life everywhere. The sounds in this recording are of whales and of a single ten horsepower two stroke outboard motor, small by any standards. It was remarkable how much noise even a small motor makes. @a minimal virus: Thanks for your compliments but all I did was hit record! This is a live recording taken using a hydrophone while recording humpback whales. The fishing boats were in the area and one came very close by. You can hear him running fast and then slowing down and approaching our boat. This is just how it sounded below the surface without any further input from me.

nice job! really nice. excellent mix of samples and effect play sounds like it would have been really fun producing it.
