ANGELIQUE KIDJO’S “MOVE ON UP” REMIXED BY BRITIAN’S RADIOCLIT FROM THE VERY BEST
Angelique Kidjo went back to her musical roots and inspirations on her latest Razor & Tie release, OYO, a collection of original songs combined with covers of classics all infused with her distinctive international sound. The critically acclaimed album showcases songs Kidjo was inspired by throughout her childhood and brings them into a new light with her unique, African-inspired renderings of the original tracks. The first single off of the album, “Move On Up,” is a passionate cover of Curtis Mayfield’s 1970 hit featuring Bono and John Legend. Originally recorded with only Legend, the song has now been remixed by European production team Radioclit from The Very Best. “Move On Up” is available as a vocal remix and a dub remix and will be available on iTunes and all other digital service providers May 18th. The vocal remix was featured by Pete Tong as one of the “hottest new dance tracks” on the latest edition his BBC1 radio show which aired on May 14th.
Angelique Kidjo will be one of the celebrated African artists to participate in the first-ever FIFA World Cup concert to be held on the continent of Africa. The June 11th concert will be held in Johannesberg as part of the FIFA World Cup Kick-off Celebration Concert and will also feature performances by Alicia Keys, Amadou & Mariam, Black Eyed Peas, and Shakira amongst others. Kidjo was recently on BBC’s Later… with Jools Holland and will also be seen performing “Move On Up” on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on NBC July 27th.
International recording star Angelique Kidjo is recognized worldwide not only for her definitive vocal style, but her passion and concern surrounding issues affecting people throughout the world, most notably in her home continent of Africa. Kidjo is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, the founder of her own educational aid organization The Batonga Foundation, and is never afraid to speak her mind when it comes to issues affecting the underprivileged worldwide.
Comprised of Johan Karlberg and Etienne Tron (aka DJ Tron), the European production team known as Radioclit was formed in mid 2004 and started gaining increased popularity and notoriety thanks to their Ghettopop podcast which began streaming in 2006. Since then the team has worked on remixing songs from a wide variety of artists, including Justin Timberlake, Lily Allen, Jay-Z, and Gwen Stefani amongst others. The duo teamed up with Esau Mwamwaya as The Very Best in 2008, and have since released one mixtape of remixes and an album of original songs on Green Owl.
