    A Little More Time

This song is dedicated to Garrett Blotter. From witnessing how the community of Republic has responded in honoring Garrett, I can see how he touched all of our lives. He was a man of outstanding character. He was quick to do the right thing, and he was quick to defend those in need. I remember coaching him when he was in middle school, and I always appreciated how hard-working and respectful he was. I can't remember anyone standing out as much as he did, but he stood out for the right reasons. Not only did he eagerly accept help, but he also took the time to master anything assigned to him. If he had been taught a new play or technique during practice, he would stay late or show up early the next time just so he could be his absolute best. Even if he had done everything right, he still would ask coaches how he could get better. It wasn't out of pride or a desire to be better than everyone else; it was out of humility and the desire to help his team as much as he possibly could. Garrett was one of the most noble people I've ever met, and I'm honored to have known him. I hope he can look down from Heaven, hear this song, smile, and realize how much we all loved him. He is and always will be missed, but at least we can cherish all of the wonderful memories he made.

I could not have done this without the help of my wonderful friends Desmond Dornak and Emily Cremeans. I never expected this to turn out the way it did, and I'm truly grateful for their help. The music Desmond composed inexplicably surpassed my expectations and hopes, and Emily's voice is absolutely beautiful. I'm blessed and humbled to have gotten the chance to work with such incredibly talented friends. I cannot thank them enough for all they contributed to the production of this song.

I hope "A Prayer" can touch those who loved Garrett. We created this only with the intent of paying tribute to the life of a wonderful person. The minute I heard what happened to Garrett, I broke down and prayed. I felt compelled to do something for Garrett, his family, Desmond Roy, and Desmond's family. I know a song cannot fill the holes in people's hearts, but I hope it can help anyone who needs comfort find it. All I hoped to do with this song was help people realize how special Garrett was. I believe God turned it into more than that, and I'm happy He gave me the opportunity to do this. The lyrics to the song are below. I hope everyone enjoys this song and remembers Garrett with a warm heart. Appreciate and love the people close to you; they are more dear than you realize. Please pray for the Blotter family, Desmond Roy, and the Roy family. God bless!

    Verse 1:

Dear Lord, my God, I’m not asking why this happened,
No matter what I did, I wouldn’t understand a fraction,
Of events that are in store and the one that just took place,
But it’s just so hard to realize we’ve lost such a beautiful face,
But now he’s finding comfort in Your mercy and Your grace,
I know Garrett’s in Your arms, in Your warm loving embrace,
And I know he’s looking down on us, proud of what he sees,
A town coming together, not crippling at its knees,
He sees the love he made and the love he still receives,
He sees the light through the darkness in a city that believes,
That You, God, have a plan, and we may not comprehend it,
But my God, I know he’s standing by Your side in Heaven,

And he’ll be missed on Friday nights,
Lighting up opponents under those bright white lights,
Not only was he vigilant; he was also determined,
When it came to being a player, he was absolutely perfect,
Not only on the field, but in the ways with true meaning,
Respect poured out of his heart; he was never demeaning,
And he yearned for more learning; he dreamed of success,
He did whatever was needed to be his absolute best,
And right now it’s hard, and we’re all brokenhearted,
For a loved one of ours has forever departed,
But he’s in the Holy World; one day we’ll see him again,
God, I know that You’ll heal us, in Your name Lord, amen, amen.

    Chorus:

In an instant, everything can change,
In minutes, the sun sets on the day,
But when we keep our faith in God, the Highest,
In our darkest hour, we shine the brightest,

In a year, the seasons come and go,
In a life, we have our highs and lows,
But when we’re reunited, face to face,
We’ll look back on how God moved in this place,

    Verse 2:

Dear Lord, My God, I know that You’re with us,
Dear Lord, My God, I know that You hear us,
Some of us question You; some wonder why,
Some of us doubt you, Lord; some curse the sky,
Please Lord, forgive us; open our eyes,
Show us the grave’s the beginning of life,
When we trust in Your plan and reflect Your light,
Even when we’re in our darkest of nights, amen, amen

    (Chorus x 2)

    Bridge:
In a year, the seasons come and go,
In a life, we have our highs and lows,
But when we’re reunited, face to face,
We’ll look back on how God moved in this place,
God is moving in this place,
    Amen.
