About

As I left Borth for the last time in 1999 I took the Cambrian Line to Shrewsbury; my all-time favourite train journey which weaves its ways through some of the most beautiful landscape known to man. I had in my possession most of my worldly belongings (which wasn’t much at the time) and my CD and vinyl collection (which was everything).

I was 18 years old and making a confusing transition from metro-sexual Indie kid complete with floppy fringe and hipsters to a whistle wielding amateur raver. Albums of note at the time included Fila Brazillia - Old Codes & New Chaos, Orbital - In-Sides, Radiohead - Ok Computer, Super Furry Animals - Radiator and some amazing Dreamscape Jungle Tape-Packs and anything by Ride or the Stone Roses.

Partly due to my naivety and partly due to the instrumentation and sampling skill of the music I was listening to, I could not differentiate between the bands and the dance producers. In short I thought they were all proper bands with guitars and drummers.

Music is made of memories and Cambrian Line is all about fusing those early memories of Jazz, Dub and Disco inspired melodies and instrumentation with groove and space; sometimes moody sometimes joyous but always imagining once more what its like to accept the music as it comes with pigeonholing the shit out of it.

Cambrian Line is a very personal effort, I can’t promise you will always like it, but it will always be what a label truly should be, honest and heartfelt and in love with its output and hopefully representative of a community of artists coming together to create a sound that is distinctly theirs.

Its worth a go anyway
