Background, Experience and Knowledge

During my tenure at S.O.S Records, I have gained valuable insight into the industry. My experience was when I served as A&R at a label that could be considered a pioneer within the industry. S.O.S Records was the driving force behind the dance/pop movement throughout the 90’s. In 1994 S.O.S entered into a partnership distribution deal with BMG Music. As the years progressed, BMG acquired complete ownership of the company. At the present time BMG is now in sole possession of S.O.S Records.

My A&R involvement was instrumental to the growth and success of these artists. I am confident that my past experience will enable me to achieve the highest level of success.

My experience includes all phases of label operations. Executing club promotions, marketing, retail marketing and creation of Point-of Purchase (P-O-P) items, were some of the responsibilities I performed in record company positions. (A & R). Other positions included scouting and signing/licensing talent, artist’s relations and development and tour budgeting and planning. As an Artist and Repertoire representative I also had the power to negotiate contracts with prospective bands/artists. Some common issues involved in negotiating contracts include:(1),determining the bands/artist advance (2), setting the bands/artist general and mechanical royalty rates,(3), determining the number of additional options or albums the label will support, (4), determined the advance limitations for each of these additional albums, (5), set the length of time for the contracts, (6), as well as handling any other discrepancies between the bands/artist and label.
