For those of you who want to know what kind of music I did before the funk got me
and before I started the Calaminus Project:
"KOPF oder ZAHL" is one of the answers.
In 1999 - the time when my music was more prog-influenced -I recorded an album of 13 songs in about 80 hours with some other nice musicans in a kind of homestudio.
The main backings/arrangements were done on a Boss Drumcomputer. During the recordings we replaced some of the original sounds with better ones from diverse samplers and added keys, guitars and vocals.
"KOPF oder ZAHL" is one of the recorded songs of this album "WIRKLICH?!".
The german lyrics describe the matters of unemployment.
For those of you who are able to understand german:
Please be indulgent on these lyrics :-) I was young & needed the money *haha* ;-)
Musicians:
CALAMINUS: - vocals, guitars, main backing, drumcomputer; songwriting.
CHRISTIAN RUST: - additional guitars & solo (marimba part)
TIM HEINRICH: - additional keys & sampling; mix & mastering.

@Orlando 'The Don' Lund: Great you found it appealing Orlando - thank you very much! I never dared to compare this with Gong or Spirit, but I'm glad I did some unconscious homage to them and their music :-) Or to answer your question: No, I didn't knew that really ;-)

This is an interesting listen throughout!!! I hear elements of Gong (Angels Egg) and Spirit (12 Dreams of Dr Sardonicus). Ah, but you knew that didn't you?

@Johan Rignér: ;-) Yeah Johan, some light funky attitude without the knowlegde of what funk can be... Thanks for pointing that out!

@Ping-Fonk: Haha, damn right with the radio hit Jean-Guy ;-) That wasn't intended too! My influences at this time were proggy and I had the first listens to some fusion... Even I don't give to much on genre labels, I would sum it up to Art-Pop (maybe?!) :-) Thanks for listening to that old stuff with german lyrics mate!!

There are really a lot of things in this track. It's like experimental-post-punk-jazz-pop-fusion-or-something. Interesting. It will never be a radio hit for sure, but I like it :)

This is a song from the period BEFORE this sequencing project - with real musicians :0, real vocals & german lyrics! Sorry, there's no translation, but hope this doesn't matter too much & you'll enjoy the music :-))

@Rafi Wazir: Danke Rafi!
