I started to make music already when children with many musical instruments like guitar,
bass and drums, and we had lot of action with playing as band when kids. Teenage time
until adult was time of heavy metal bands Jason and Under Siege, followed by funk and
more deeper sounds orientated band named Bhang. During jam times with bands i was
introduced to electronic music and making of it, and we started to mix elements together
with band sounds.
So, how did i end up making dance music, or should we speak about (psy)trance.
Around 1998 we was starting to get more into full deep electronic sounds and trance
and we started to check local finnish underground parties with fully underground pioneer
finnish psy music.
So that was the "click" and we extended our training house to full
computer based studio where we could start explore the sounds what had been collected
to our heads. First of all we started to make trance music together with Toni
(Igor Swamp), who was making some sampling and dj effects on our band that time.
Our project name was Kuukernakkel and that was kind of crazy minimal psytrance.
Same time we was starting many collaboration projects with other musicians in Finland,
and made track or two by with each.
2000-2001 we met with Tommy from Yöjalka and we started one
of our many years main project Salakavala (www.salakavala.tk) and later we released
album Fractal Fishing on 2006.
Calamar Audio started year 2003 when travelling to Goa.
This time i wasn´t in Finland for our studio so i started to make sounds by myself
as a side project. Everyday powered by eating fried calamari´s with fries in Chapora,
Goa, my first side project named La Calamar was started. Later years i felt my sound
changed a bit so i also changed name that time to Calamar Audio, which is the current one.
These days Calamar Audio sound has influences from many styles of electronic music
and the rhytm is dedicated for freaky dancefloors. Debut cd Tentacle Tubuc was released
2007 on Antiscarp Records and newest album Squid Fluid was released end of 2009.
Music itself is never ending flow of un-expected sounds and high tuned punching rhytms.
Im also fully working with Salakavala and also mix dj set as dj Whiskey Baba,
and im also label manager of Antiscarp Records (www.antiscarp.com).
Since this i´ve been playing many places and countries, from bigger events to the most
weirdest underground gigs, and always happy to explore some new and play music for
audiences around the galaxy.
