C-Quel is an artist, scientist, and consultant with a unique background that encompasses both the hood and suburbs. Growing up simultaneously in Lynwood and Orange County has allowed C-Quel the opportunity to gain a unique perspective on life.[Translation: he knows life poor in the hood and life in upper-middle class suburbia]. While attending Chapman University C-Quel was amongst the first wave of pioneers to provide content for what is now known as music blogging. He started in 2000 as an online journalist for SixShot.com where he contributed feature articles, album reviews, and interviews. Lil Kim, Keith Murray, Nappy Roots, and Dip Set are a few of the artist who have been interviewed by C-Quel during his stint at Sixshot.com. After parting ways with Sixshot.com, C-Quel took a sabbatical from the artist life and during such time he established a career in the food industry as a product development scientist and a consultant. This foundation has allowed C-Quel leverage to further purse his music. C-Quel exhibits a sound that is reminiscent of the Golden Era that is packaged in pure West Coast. He credits Michael Jackson, DJ Quik, and Jay Z as his primary musical influences.
