About

Christen Napier is originally a visual artist and her approach to music has always been quite visual as well. Being self-taught, she has put an experimental twist on traditional styles. She enjoys playing many instruments (including jaw harp, djembe, ukulele, guitar, and a 1920's Royal typewriter) but her main instrument is the banjo.

Christen is a member of the chamber folk trio, Cutleri, and the multimedia performance troupe, Waking Dream (www.wakingdream.org). She also plans to continue banjo/tabla collaborations with percussionist Tem Noon. Most recently she has been performing with Knife Throwers Assistance, based in NYC.

Christen is also a songwriter and is currently working on her debut solo album.

Christen’s most important love and inspiration is her 2 year old daughter Maisie. One day she would love to record an album of original children’s music, and an album of all the instrumental banjo tunes from Classic Sesame Street… ;)
