From Public Radio International's Bullseye with Jesse Thorn:
David Wain is a writer, director, actor and comedian who got his start with the sketch group that would eventually become MTV's The State in 1993. His debut film Wet Hot American Summer has become something of a cult comedy classic since its release in back in 2001. Wain continues to work alongside many of his State-mates, on films like Wet Hot and 2008's breakout hit Role Models, his [adult swim] TV series Children's Hospital, as well as his popular web series Wainy Days. Many of those same faces appear in his new film Wanderlust, which he co-wrote with frequent collaborator (and State alumni) Ken Marino.
David returns to the show to trace his career path, discuss what made The State such a special comedy troupe, and of course talk about Wanderlust. Wanderlust opens in theaters nationwide on February 24th, 2012. It stars Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston.
