Bugs aka Julian Hight - singer/songwriter/composer/guitarist - performing and recording original music and words since 1979.
Inspired by the 'do it yourself' ethos of the punk explosion and subsequent alternative post-punk sounds, Bugs set about learning the guitar and writing songs at a early age - a passion which has continued into the 21st century.
In the late 80s/early 90s he fronted alternative rock band 'After the Dream' who played almost 100 gigs around London and the home counties in a frenetic 3 year period that included many highs and some seminal recordings.
After moving to the west country Bugs fronted 'Earthpig' - a Bristol based band with a harder edge who performed and recorded in Bath, Bristol and London.
His first solo outing came in 2002, when he recorded a 6 track EP - 'Wayward Child' with legendary sound guru Ott, to critical acclaim, featuring on the cover discs of Guitarist, Future Music and Computer Music magazines. It would win him an Ovation acoustic guitar from Guitar magazine which he still uses to perform solo acoustic gigs.
In 2006, Bugs second solo album Devolution was recorded at his Somerset studio; 'The Padded Cell', and featured on the cover disc of Computer Music along with glowing reviews.
2009 saw Bugs join forces with Ben (drums) and Andy (bass) to form 'Bugs & the Collaborators' and record the eclectic but rocking album 'A Contradiction in Sound' at his studio, followed by some memorable gigs in the west country.
This year (2013) sees the release of 11 eclectic instrumental tracks compiled from recordings made over the past 20 years entitled 'Treescapes', reflecting Julian's passion for world heritage trees, (following his 2011 book for National Trust; 'Britain's Tree Story').
He continues to write and record for his next solo album and play solo acoustic gigs.
