It was 1997 when Mlungisi Kunene stood in front of approximately 700 learners in Nichols junior primary school to compete in a music talent show. From that day onwards his love for music grew and he continued to sing and learn various music genres. As a kid he was a stutter and he sometimes had to jump so he could say words properly. In school fellow students began calling him Busta or a Bone Thugs member because he spoke very fast. It was in grade 11 where he used his ability to speak fast into his gift of rapping and entertaining the crowd. In 2006 he started writing and attending hip hop shows more often with help from Bone, MAD X "Green Panther" & AK while they were still part of So GhettoniseD n Pushi Plan production.

Buddha has made his mark more as an mcee in Cape Town and Durban by performing in various hip hop events, such as Gugulethu "All the NYs park jamz" & "KwaMlamli"; Philippi; Delft; UCT Hip Hop Club shows + other UCT ceremonies; Kool Out Live (one of the biggest Hip Hop movements in WC); Durban’s Block 031 sessions (1 of the biggest hip hop events in KZN) and many other events.

Buddha is more than just a rapper but he also sings Gospel, Acappella, Choral, Opera, African Traditional music, Afro Pop and has many other styles of vocal sounds. He is an entertainer who has performed in theatres, concerts halls and the streets.

Buddha is currently studying towards a Bcom degree in UCT. His music influence comes from various people in his home, community, a variety of artists in the music industry, his own life experiences and the world at large (i.e. how things are, why things are and what if things are?)
