This is an interview with 2009 Frederick S. Pardee Center For the Study of the Longer-Range Future at Boston University Graduate Summer Fellow Peter O'Connor about his Pardee Paper titled Energy Transitions. In his paper, Mr. O'Connor analyzes the history of energy transitions in the United States and finds lessons for for future energy transitions in the developing world.

Mr. O'Connor was also the co-coordinator of a year long seminar series called The Sawyer Seminar on Energy and Society. The series was hosted by the Pardee Center and the BU Department of Geography & Environment. The seminar was supported by the Andrew Mellon Foundation.
