SONIC VISTA is a sound installation by O+A, Bruce Odland and Sam Auinger, on the Deutschherrnbrücke, a historic railroad/pedestrian bridge that crosses the Main river in Frankfurt. It celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the famous Greenbelt by joining the north and south sections in a special sonic observation area where the whole city can be heard. Sounds from the north and south banks of the bridge, construction, jets, trains, barges,cars, busses, motorcycles, birds, people, bicycles- all the sounds of the modern international city organism are transformed into the harmonic proportions of the tuning tubes and played back on the bridge from two "sphere" loudspeakers of special design.
