Music is in Bruce Gainsfords blood. Born in New Zealand he was learning to play music as he was learning to talk. Bruce bought his first guitar on Sunset Boulevard at age 12 and his fate was sealed: A Life of Music.

London called and Bruce joined a band, Vega4, who released two albums and enjoyed numerous world tours and worldwide airplay. Their single "Life Is Beautiful" from the second album You and Others featured heavily on tv shows and films (Greys Anatomy, One Tree Hill, Sex Drive, Her Sisters Keeper) while reaching into the top 30 on the US Radio Chart.

Vega4 captured the attention of uber-DJ Paul Van Dyk resulting in a collaboration track – the hugely successful 'Time of Our Lives'. Bruce was bitten by the electronic music bug and Styrafoamkid was born.

Styrafoamkid continued honing his production skills on remixes and soon featured on both the 2008 Cream Compilation and Ministry of Sound Tech Euphoria ompilation.

In mid 2009 Bruce started to work on his first artist album. With a lot of different material being written he decided to give the Styrafoamkid moniker its own place genre wise in the more electrronica/dance punk field while changing over to use his own name for Djing and production in the dance world.

In a natural progression, Bruce has begun to play live guitar over his dj sets making for a dynamic, mesmerizing and crowd pleasing performance.

Bruce also plays guitar in Paul Van Dyk's live band set up.
