Runaway Productions, Vinyl Fluid Records & A Broken Homes Product recently came together and talked about how we felt that the North West Underground Hip Hop scene was not being represented through our local festivals here in Portland the way it should be. Besides Poh Hop which happens once a year there really isn't another opportunity for local Hip Hop artist to come together for a full weekend to showcase their talent, videos and merchandise. Its seems like the other festivals that go on here in Portland just don't have the space or the knowledge to really represent the underground scene in the North West the way it should be.

I think the other festivals that happen here in Portland that do showcase some of what the NW has to offer are doing great things for the community and the North West BUT we thought we would give you another option. An option to see a wide variety of amazing local acts that would not normally play together but love this opportunity to get to perform on the same stage under one name.

I'm not really sure if its fair to call this a festival but I think its pretty amazing how many artist were thrilled about the idea and willing to be involved as soon as we approached them about performing on NW HIP HOP FEST . Within 48hrs we had over 20 acts on board and asking what they could do to help promote the weekend. I have to say I'm VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE NW HIP HOP SCENE willingness to work together. Just like rock music there is many types of Hip Hop and we did our best to represent as many genres as we could. I believe this festival is something we would love to continue to do maybe 1 to 2 times a year. I hope if you don't make it out to this particular weekend we will catch you at the next NW HIP HOP FEST.

Throughout the weekend we will be showing local hip hop artist music videos. We wanted to make sure we were fully representing our local scene so we will be showing videos from artist that are on the fest and also videos from artist that are not on this years festival. We have some local artist with some amazing creative videos that are available on youtube but never get the chance to showcase their videos in front of a live audience. We will be showing Cool Nutz new video Baseall Numbers which is featured on his new CD Incredible. We will also be showing videos by IAME of Sandpeople, Dark Time Sunshine, Soul P, Sleep of Chicharones and Oldominion and also videos from Sapient of the Sandpeople crew to name a few.

Also throughout the night we will be doing raffle giveaways with prize packages from local labels such as Indamix Records, FieldWerk Recordings, Camobear Records (Shirts, CD's, Posters, etc).

The weekend will showcase art work by Someone Clothing and Art design and also local photographer Arian Stevens. Each artist will also be contributing art work to the raffle as well.
