I found myself writing this at the weekend. Still very rough around the edges and sorely in need of a bell and a whistle or two, but high time I posted something and I need a few days' space from it. Hope you enjoy ;-)

    Everybody Out

    Thinking now about this place
The callous set of the landlord's face
The memories in boxes in the hall
I was talking with him, listening to her
    Someone's coming for the furniture
    No one's listening at all

    Everybody out
Well, you can stay if you want
Everybody back inside but everything is gone
And everybody else is choosing their way
Came too late for me, Gone too early

    Thunder shook the whole estate
    I went out to investigate
Saw the trucks roll up toward
They threw our boxes onto them
The convoy rolled on out again
    S'nothing personal, says the landlord

    But Everybody out
Well, you can stay if you want
Everybody back inside but everything is gone
And everybody else is choosing their way
Came too late for me, gone too early

So this is where the storm begins
And people scatter to the winds
Some of them I won't see any more
The landlord puffs his chest and does
A double take at the rest of us
And says whatcha staring at me for?

    Everybody out
Well, you can stay if you want
Everybody back inside but everything is gone
And everybody else is choosing their way
Came too late for me, Gone too early
