'Magnet Marsh' is a record of electronic music that is not afraid to be so. It still bumps, of course, but when it does it's free of the need to dress up in the latest fashions and beg you to join it. It doesn't care if you do or don't. It just bumps. And where there is soporific Boards of Canada balm, it's spiced with the twitchy brew of Lenky; if chills of deeply unfashionable turn of the century IDM creep in, they're warmed by fat sunkissed synths and then drizzled with 'Vespertine' sound design; when delicate Susuma Yokota-style ambience soothes, the bassy thump of a distant 808 simultaneously emboldens.

As such, 'Magnet Marsh' makes no apologies for the the music it delineates. It asks that you don't either. It just asks that you listen to it free from hype, shorn of prevarication.

It thinks that if you do, you'll like it, though ultimately whether you rate it for all sorts of culturally bagagged reasons or you understand it as it hopes you might, it's good either way.
