We make Slow Techno and we are Brodanse aka The Danse.

Brodanse is the musical partnership of brothers Austen and Scott Smart that began on April 7th, 1990 . . . the year Scott was born.

A love for music has long been prevalent in the boy's lives and Brodanse it seems was always in the making. It all most likely started when at the ages of four and seven they were forced to listen to ‘Pump Up the Jam’ by Technotronic over and over again by their gay Nepalese uncle as they would cruise the streets of Prestbury in his Nissan 200SX.

Things didn’t stop there and the duo’s production most likely began during their epic transcontinental trip with their Dad when the boys tragically attempted to teach themselves how to play the guitar and electronic keyboard during the 15 hour journey whilst listening to Meat Loaf ‘Bat out of Hell’ on repeat – since that day the the words 'Meat' and 'Loaf' have never been said in the same sentence.

The DJ’ing started in 2007 when they made a mashup and gave it to a club as a demo, the owner liked it and despite having no idea how to DJ within a week they had their first gig! This carried on for a while until unforseen circumstances saw the brothers part company for 14 months but in the summer of 2011 when reunited they formed Brodanse; since then they have been tirelessly gathering music, producing tracks, fine tuning their DJ skills, picking up vinyls from far and wide, creating sample packs, podcasts, videos, merchandise, writing an industry blog known as ‘The Danse’ and much much more…

Expect a lot from Brodanse.
