North by Southwest is a partnership between National Radio of Spain (RNE) and the British Council. This English-language radio programme gives a taste of British and international culture and arts in Spain and also explores social, scientific and educational issues. North By Southwest is broadcast every week on RNE's Radio Exterior (World Service) as part of their English language programming.

The name of the programme, North by Southwest, is an affectionate nod to Hitchcock and reflects the positions of the two countries on the map of Europe. The format is interview based and each episode tells the story of exciting events and projects through the eyes of protagonists, organisers and audience.

The first programme was broadcast to the five continents in November 2009 and is presented by Nicolas Jackson from British Council Spain Arts Department, who also produces and presents programmes on classical and pop music for RNE’s Radio Clásica and Radio 3.
