How do we build greater capacity for higher education globally? One solution is through partnerships, but these can be with a wide range of partners which can encompass business, private education providers or wider community groups. What are the common factors underpinning such collaborations?
These issues are explored through three case studies. Dr Ian Willis discuss capacity building for high-quality teaching in medical education in the Punjab, Pakistan, involving the University of Liverpool and the University of Health Sciences Lahore. Dr Alun Hughes and Virginia West describe a bi-lateral collaboration between the governments of Wales and Chongqing China. Lastly, Professor Roberto Rabel outlines a partnership between universities from the Greater Mekong Subregion and New Zealand working collaboratively on education and development initiatives.
