Brick Fields have done well considering there young three year run as a band and 5 year run as a duo. They are now a multi-award winning group and an Arkansas original. Larry Brick growing up in the delta along the Mississippi River in West Memphis remembers learning his very first guitar licks from blues players sitting on their humble front porches down in the deep of the southern cotton fields. Rachel Fields born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas recalls hearing her care taker MS Marcella Jackson singing Gospel and African American Traditional music to her at the young age of 2 and 3 years old. Larry went on to continue playing his guitar in bars, venues, and churches from Denver, CO to the West Coast, CA and back to Arkansas. “It was easy for me, I never wanted a “real job”, and so I just kept playing my guitar.” Rachel began singing as early as three, entertaining her family. “I knew I wanted to sing for people my whole life.” “That’s all I’ve ever done and all I want to do.” Rachel has sung in bars, venues, and churches from New York City to San Francisco, CA and everywhere in between. They have both had the privilege of joining some national and internationally known performers along the way. Larry and Rachel found one another at a mutual music venue in Eureka Springs, AR in 2006, then “Brick Fields” was born. This couple’s original music is rooted deeply in Blues, Gospel, Folk, and Roots music. Their musical combinations can accommodate venues from an intimate relaxed setting with the acoustic duo to a full band experience. This husband and wife team with Larry’s anointed guitar sound and back vocals along with Rachel’s, soulful voice, flute, and rhythm guitar continue to touch their audiences deeply. Brick Fields Music has been called an “Unleashed cleansing of the soul” by Nashville Blues Society, Doug Hill of the Norman Transcript called Brick Fields album "Gospel Blue" “A worshipful House of Blues with a steeple on top!” And New Classic Music for Tomorrow said, “Brick Fields is by far the most soulful artist I’ve heard in years!” You can read more national and international reviews at their website. The State of Arkansas has produced a self-sufficient amount of musical treasures over the years and some of them are still a best-kept secret. The Brick Fields Band is both a tradition-rich and forward thinking natural progression of that lineage. But with their work ethic and deep-rooted talent, the fences we have around this state will no longer be able to contain them. Brick Fields is an Arkansas Treasure and a must see.
