Jeffrey Benjamin speaks with Karyn Jensen as she shares her habits for success. Karyn is the 2010 Sales Woman of The Year recipient for Professional Saleswoman of Nevada. She has worked in Human Resources for nearly 20 years. She holds dual bachelor degrees in Communications & Psychology from Chapman University, circa 1989. In 1998, she graduated with a Master of Science degree in Human Resources (also from Chapman University). She has been SPHR certified (Senior Professional in Human Resources) since 1999. In 2000, she became a Master Graduate through Rapport Leadership International.

In her career, Karyn has worked for IGT in their Training and Organizational Development Department, served as Corporate Human Resource Director for Jensen Precast and was the Employment Manager for Fitzgeralds Casino/Hotel in the 1990s.

In addition, she has been teaching Human Resource and Supervisory courses for the College of Extended Studies since 1991, sits on the advisory board for the Human Resources Certificate program and partnered with UNR to plan, develop and execute a structured review program for the Professional in Human Resources certification.

In 2004, she incorporated her 'side business' into her own Human Resource consulting / management training firm, “The Human Resource Connection, Ltd”. The firm helps businesses develop their Human Resources through HR assessments, HR advisement and management training.

Karyn was a volunteer for the Junior League of Reno for 12 years (and is currently a sustaining member) and served as Community Vice President in 2004. Currently, she serves as Community Relations Chair for the Northern Nevada Human Resource Association. The committee she chairs was responsible for putting on the region’s 2010 Best Places to Work competition that culminated in April and will also be responsible for planning and coordinating the 2nd annual Brunch with the Best set for July 28th.

Karyn is a founding member of E-Women Network, volunteers for Oncology Champions at Renown and has been a Captain for Relay for Life/American Cancer Society for the last 5 years.

Karyn is married to Kurt Jensen, and has two little girls that are the center of her world - Taylor who is 8 and Brooke who is 3. She loves being with her family, scrapbooking the crazy amount of photos she takes of her children each month, boating, camping and spending time with her friends.
