About
Outsider pop music from San Francisco. Low Fidelity = best to listen with headphones (I would suggest Dr.Beats because the sound quality is pretty awesome) or you might not hear the full spectrum of sounds in the recording.
I leave my equipment on all day and wander in and out making music in an organic way. If I don't feel like playing, I turn the machines off at the end of the day BUT only when I'm ready for bed. Somehow, when the stroke of a perfect idea hits, waiting for my equipment to load is too long and it could all be lost if I have to wait...seriously. Good night machines...All of my music is made with hardware. No computers are used in the production of sound or recording. The use of hardware contributes to the boutique sound and style.
Sound inspiration comes from everywhere. Living in a place like San Francisco, that's both urban AND filled with wildlife, I often hear the song patterns of the birds combine with the rhythmic droning of constant traffic. I wonder how these sounds can be replicated with electronic instruments. Festivals and public oddities are commonplace here, and I observe multiple forms of music and culture while they mingle. Being the curious type, I want to explore and become familiar with the incorporation of all the elements of daily living - musically and artistically. I've worked in hospitals for many years and I've heard the bells of heart monitors and the chimes of various healthcare equipment throughout my career. These are among the most influential pieces of my audio intake so it's natural for my sound to mimic these components. I see magic in the simplest things.
My music making approach is more like that of a conceptual artist than a musician. The process is very important in the way I make music. I don't know music theory, and I've never studied music, so everything I have learned as a musician comes from my strong desire to create something interesting/fulfilling. "Bosmink" is more like an alter ego - not a band name. He has a vision of natural and sincere Love beyond present times - times when communication and feelings are expressed in ways unrecognizable by todays standards. Bosmink looks back on those moments when people expressed things interpersonally. I try and see things the way he would when I approach song making. I write lyrics about real moments in my life but I leave the content ambiguous and full the empty spaces with enough room for the listener to paint their own picture. These songs are like snapshots of time pieced together like a hardcopy photo album.
I believe every empty space has a perfect sound and I think, more than I play, to achieve these sounds. My goal is to change the way people think about music. Why is anything excluded from the category of music? This is a broad medium for expression and I want to muddy the borders between noise, beauty, pop, alternative, fear and love. Every song is different, and within each song there are many changes. I'm combining many genres but the most notable are : Pop, Electronic, Noise, Folk, and Reggae
I've included the lyrics in each song description so feel free to take off your shoes, read, imagine, and relax with the Mink.
