He's a greedy bastard who confesses within the author's note about the size of his 'awe-inspiring thighs' namely due to the glorious food that has graced many of his tables for his column 'Jay Rayner on restaurants'.

However, this is different, this isn't one of those poncy books about how wonderful it is to have the top table at a michelin star restaurant - far from it. 'A Greedy man in a hungry world' is a reflective book to warn us on what is happening to our food industry, and how western culture is unsustainable with regards to how we cultivate our food.

I met Jay in a good old fashioned cafe to talk about food sufficiency, agriculture in the west, food education in the 70s, the love of the pig, and where to get the dirtiest Chinese in the big smoke!

A Greedy man in a hungry world: Why almost everything you thought about food is wrong' publishes on the 23rd May and is available in audio (read by Jay!), ebook and print book.
