Born in the Midlands, UK, in the tumultuous early-eighties and raised on a hearty diet of acid house and Bowie, our man Boizei was never going to be your average DJ/producer.

An ardent record collector and punk idealist - the alternative music scene beckoned to a young Boizei. Early musical ventures took shape in alt-rock and indie bands, where distorted, raucous guitars were his weapons of choice. But in 2003 he had his mind blown by 2ManyDJs seminal ‘As Heard on Radio Soulwax’ mixtape. Recognising the power that lay in the hands of indie-kids with turntables, the six-string was swiftly traded in for decks and a mixer. A life-long ambition for sharing his own eclectic mix was finally realized. The DJ Boizei had arrived.

Since then, he has gone on to play some of the UK’s most exciting venues, delving ever-deeper into the world of electronic dance music whilst staying true to his indie roots. It’s this unerring instinct for playing great dance records coupled with an experimental attitude to music that has helped Boizei carve a name for himself as one of the scene’s most distinctive talents. 2012 saw him win major UK DJ competitions and gain recognition from industry giants Ministry of Sound, Intel™, BBC Radio 1’s Benji B, TalentHouse and MixCloud.

So what does Boizei have in store for us in 2013? As well as the huge DJ sets and epic mixtapes we’ve come to expect, this year sees the release of some truly awesome remixes and work is currently under way on his own original material.
