To celebrate my coming birthday, a chestnut from 1987 (!). This was my band of many years, "Empty Suits" with Robin Eubanks, Allan Jaffe, Jerome Harris, and Steve Gaboury. This cut also includes David Shea on turntables, and was the final track on the record. Very early sampling technology, as you can hear. This cut features three poems, in Latin, Mandarin, and Russian, a recitative by myself made up of only my song titles, an ever-expanding canon, on top of an irregular theme, 2 double tracked drum sets playing off the sampled beat, and...what else? Oh yes, a crazy track of a crowded marketplace in Istanbul. All lovingly mixed by the great Joe Ferla - and the hard way, dudes, with no "automation" or computers. Ah, yes, the old days.
