Modulate Octophonic Loop System, is an 8.1 sound installation, first created for exhibition in May 2011 at SONM, a new sound art centre in Murcia, Spain, directed by Francisco Lopez.
Controlled via Max/MSP, the 8 speakers (plus subwoofer) are placed
in a semi circle/crescent. Custom software chooses multiple sound files in random order, overlaying & panning/diffusing them through the system, each sound has it's own path, each permutation revealing new configurations and spacial aspects
though time.
The playback system has been developed by Bobby Bird, using audio
content created in collaboration with Mark Bunegar & Mark Harris, exploring new ways to present Modulate's unique sound.
