@Howl Din: Vachel Lindsay was a genuine American nut, just like the Captain. I recently finished reading his biography, written by Edgar Lee Masters in the 30's, and learned that he seriously intended to convert America to the"Gospel of Beauty" and that he wandered around the country with only the sale of his poems to support himself. When he could no longer face reality, he killed himself by drinking Lysol.

In case anyone imagines Don van Vliet came out of nowhere, Mr. Lindsay suggests otherwise. I like it!
