I'm so confused. So you're saying you don't listen to DnB anymore but you play it in clubs? You're not that interested in DnB? What???? Are you saying that the Dnb coming out now a days is not worth listening to? I'm not sure why someone who obviously has been in the DnB game for a while would say they are not that interested in DnB, but continue producing it and sacrifice so much for it. It just doesn't make sense to me. I'm not sure if you're contradicting yourself, just trying to be cool, or it's just my misunderstanding of what you're saying.

When talking about minimal sound D-Bridge is still doing a lot of what you might term "standard kick, snare combos" (and always has which is fine I love his music) where as, I think artists like Instra:Mental and June Miller are doing minimal (ie not a wall of sound) but their beat patterns don't fit into that standard kick snare that became the template for drum and bass and it sounds different. A lot of the new "minimal" could almost be described as 170bpm electronica which for me is not what the likes of Deep Blue were doing mid 90's even though yes when described as "minimal" (which is a very broad term) that is what Deep Blue was doing in the 90's.
I have always been a vinyl DJ and have always agreed that the mechanical part of DJing, where you make 2 records go the same speed is probably the least important skill but the one that every bedroom DJ thinks IS DJing, which I think is why there was so much internet controversy (ie no one really cares) surrounding the Mistabishi thing. The tunes that are being played and when will always be more important. I have never stood in a club and thought its OK to play shit music cause the DJ mixed it well, but I would certainly give more leeway to a DJ playing great music who is not having a great time with the mixing. Many funk and soul DJs play stuff back to back with almost no technical skill used what so ever but the music they are playing is the awesome music that is largely responsible for drum and bass existing in the first place, does that make these DJs crap?

Awesome. Quite surprised you guys actually don't listen to dnb.... Yet made a killer album. Album is awesome an hope for more amazing tunes in the future.

Its a very interesting point......most of the Drum and Bass around at present is a recurrence of past era,s, yet, production Quality is always improving, and I think its really refreshing to hear the sounds of yesteryear in a clearer, cleaner and more potent form....how ever, we can never forget the pioneering sounds of the nineties from artists such as LTJ Bukem, Roni size, Deep Blue, GrooveRider,Optical,Nico,and yourself .....etc. these people paved the way and unfortunately for todays lovers of Drum and Bass, these people are largely unrecognized. I first started out in D'n'B in 99/2000, but I was lucky to be amongst crew that had been there since the early days, and was educated on our History.one thing I can say is that I am happy with where the music is at right now, because it is largely reminiscent of what was around in 99/2000.and of course, those were my favourite years !
