The Dub Sack Radio Show on KOWA 106.5 fm in Olympia, WA
Forget all about the "middle". This music is all about the deepest depths and the highest highs. The bass sinks low, guitars & keys fly high and the hats sizzle on this psychedelic trip master.
Welcome to the mysterious and magical world of Blood 'n' Tongue and Mr. Fist. This volume is the second in a series of "best of" sets which will be released over the coming months by Blood 'n' Tongue. Along with the "Song of the Week" series, these releases are intended to pave the way for an extensive release campaign of the full original albums from which these selections were drawn.
Volume 02 focuses on so called "dub" oriented pieces. The bass is heavy and the mood is decidedly tripped out!
All compositions were created, performed and produced by Stephen Ugo Rosin at the Blood 'n' Tongue studio in Vancouver, BC.
Drums on "Tweaker's Dub" by Matt Pease.
This collection covers 10 years of activity from 2000-2010. All tracks were recorded with Logic Pro (Versions 4 through 9) on a Mac and were remastered in 2010 for this release.
"The Hand of God" & "Holy House (Edit)" were recorded in 2000 & 2002, respectively. They were originally released in 2003 on the web LP, "Fortune's Hand. This LP is part of a seven disc set with each disc dedicated to a specific planet. The ruling planet for this set is Jupiter.
"Voodoo Mary (Redub)" was recorded in 2003 and released on the web LP, "Edith Keeler Must Die".
"PEZ Dispenser (Edit)" was recorded in 2003 and released in its full, 10 minute version on the web LP, "The Days are Ahead". This collection is a focused exploration of retro sounding "soft synth" potentials. All sounds were created using VST virtual synths & drum machines. No real world samples or recordings were used. The concept here was to keep things rhythmic, but simple and to avoid any common gimmicks or tricks of digital production and sampling. Each track was done quickly and very spontaneously with most pieces recorded in one take. The intent was to create a collection of raw electronic "fromage" suitable for crackers and wine. The title reference is for nerds & geeks only.
"Tweaker's Dub" was recorded in 2007 and released in its full vocal mix on the web LP, "Dead Jazz Volume 2 - Hobo Erotic". A limited edition (12 copies) CD-R release was also distributed which came packaged in a DVD case wrapped in a brown paper bag with a fake newspaper lyric sheet insert. The concept for this album was a "day in the life" of a "hobo". It is with this release that Mr. Fist's vocal presence became fully realized. Come and join Mr. Fist as he invites you to "feel the pain, baby!" Experience all the depression and disappointment of those you ignore every day. Here, you are offered a rare chance to experience a "day in the life" of the hopeless and homeless. So toss out your wallet and keys, slip on some soiled underwear and head out beyond the throngs of the "great unwashed".
"Bong Ho" & "Touched by an Organ" were recorded in 2007 and released on the web LP, "Mr. Fist presents Organ Favorites, Volume 2: Organasm". This collection recalls the feeling of the classic old organ albums from the 50's with a 21st century psychedelic sensibility. It takes you on a journey through a variety of musical styles from rock 'n' roll to funk to dub and a few more obscure trails in between! Each is seamlessly tied together with the sexy, sultry sound of the instrument made for a madman.
"Yesterday's News" was recorded in 2010 and released on the web LP, "Mister Fist, M.D. - The Waiting Room". We spend a very large amount of our time waiting. Whether it's in a queue for food or a doctor's appointment. There's always some reason to stand or sit in one spot and wait. This collection is intended for all those stagnant parts of our days when nothing is really happening. It's simply a collection of toe tapping grooves to help pass the time.
"Giant Steps" was recorded in 2010 and released on the web LP, "Mister Fist Limited - Public Trance System". Find yourself a comfy seat and sit back while you travel to far off locations as ultra modern technology using hypnotic rhythms moves you through one mind altering environment after another. Passengers are advised that all trips are one way, so no need to bring along any unnecessary baggage!

@Dr. Feelgood: A friend on Facebook made a RZ reference to this track as well which is strange to me as I don't really listen to his stuff and assumed he did just heavy metal. Perhaps there's a side to Rob I'm missing out on! Thanks for the comments!

Very Rob Zombie. This track has a great cinematic vibe to it.

The atmosphere and the hodge podge of bizarre noises and sound effects works to great effect here on this track.
