Blonde Summer is a band of Los Angeles natives, led by singer/guitarist Chris Pope. Their sophomore EP, Slow Daze, plunges to new depths, exploring the limits of indie-pop infused California surf-rock, and their warm weather sound is a natural extension of their life on the West Coast. Deeply invested in melody and narrative Slow Daze blissfully chronicles the vagabond meanderings of a post-collegiate life. Sundrenched and effervescent, the opening track, “Slow Days Fast Company” is light-hearted and loose, while it gives a nod to songwriters like Elliot Smith, and Stephen Malkmus. The brawny riff of “Robots on Command” is a pool party of humanoid robots drinking Tecate and eating Choco-Tacos. A summertime celebration EP, the anthemic mantra of “Graduation” is a sure sign of good times ahead.
