About
Formed in the desolate playground known as the Fortitude Valley, Blonde on Blonde is intrinsically about dirty rock and roll. The combination of driving guitar hooks, a booming bass, effortless drumming and voluptuous male/female vocals create a distinctive but infinitely catch sound that harks to nights of Jack Daniels and too many cigarettes.
Bursting on the scene in late 2009 with their high anticipated and much-admired debut Ep “ Tease”. An ep that received rave reviews from street press and online blogs and also was chosen by “Time Off” magazine as single of the week beating out artists such as Weezer and Jay-Z and moreover, reached number 1 spot in the 4ZZZ top 20 chats two weeks in a row. Blonde on Blonde have since been hand picked by psychedelic rockers Tame Impala to support them on the Brisbane leg of their “Innerspeaker” tour (May 2011), supported bands such as Wolfmother, Sugar Army, The Art, commenced an east coast tour with Dead Letter Circus, Papa Vs Pretty and played Big Day Out (Jan 2011). Dub by “Brisbane News” as one of the cities next big thing, extensive touring up and down the east Coast has enabled Blonde on Blonde to hone a dynamic live show and sound that makes you a powerless victim of the “groove” and reduces ones ability to keep your pants on.
About are you Entertained
A pretty straight up chart rock track with a funky rhythm and a tidy hook. There are stoner elements to this sound, but Are You Entertained? has too much polish and bounce to really fall into this category. A Monster Magnet kind of tune – guitar heavy, but driven by the melody
- Beat magazine July 2011
“The have rock and roll style, a rocking guitar section, powerhouse backline and possibly the sexiest damn front woman in the Brisbane music scene”
- Brisbane Sounds
About “Oh My Oh My “
“Still sounds good the 4th time around! It’s a little bit like PJ Harvey and a little bit like the Kills and it’s done with just enough nonchalance and apathy to make it super infectious without being trite”
-Vijay Khurana Triple J
