The group SUS consists of a Chicago native, Poontune (Jordan McCord, 19), and two Atlanta natives, B-Rock (BaRack Little, 18), and J-Mu (Johnathan Muhammad, 20). The group came together this past year at Colgate University in New York where they all attend school. They started by just recording songs in the school studio for fun, but once fellow students heard some of the songs, they were amazed at the talent that these three fellow students and friends had. The buzz was so big at Colgate that SUS had a concert in early April, 2009. The building in which the concert was in was jam-packed and full, and the concert was a great success. SUS’s music continued to spread and get publicity around the upstate New York area, so much that they were one of the groups to open up for Lupe Fiasco at his concert at Colgate on April 25th! There were over 3,000 people at the concert, and when SUS performed “Southside Glide,” the whole crowd went crazy and was trying to learn/do the dance. In early May, right before school let out, SUS recorded a music video for the “Southside Glide,” directed by fellow student Alexander Coco. The video was recorded in a video production lab at Colgate University, and it was completed with no money spent. Although no money was spent, the video still turned out to be a success, receiving over 1,000 views within the first week it hit Youtube. This summer, the song “Southside Glide” has continued to spread all over, especially in Atlanta and Chicago. It has been played by DJ’s in well-known Atlanta clubs such as Club Frequency and Club Primetime. There was a group made in support of this “Southside Glide Movement” on Facebook, and in the first two weeks it already has 1,500 members. SUS truly believes that the only thing they lack right now is extensive radio play to make this song a hit, and they know that with play from a well known DJ and radio station such as yours will make that happen. SUS has recorded over 25 songs in two months and knows that once they hit the mainstream, they won’t stop making songs and will keep the hits coming.
