Hone Matson took his first breath over a quarter of a century ago, in a cold little town in South Western Australia.
A quiet child, he grew with his feet planted firmly on the ground, watching and learning. At sixteen, as the world grew smaller and less mysterious, Hone walked from his home not to return for what became ten years.
After a nine hour bus ride he found himself in the city of Perth, performing odd jobs to make ends meet whileplaying in a thrash punk duo called ‘Misled’.
At eighteen armed with an acoustic guitar, some chords and a list of originals, Hone was playing in cafe’s and bars throughout South East Queensland. It was then he realised he’d become a troubadour.
In 2005 Hone followed his heart to London. Spending two years occasionaly performing in dark smokie back room bars and blured house parties which lasted for days.
Hone returned to Australia to polish off some new songs and perform them at the Caloundra Music Festival, with help from the band ‘The collectives’.
Two weeks before the festival Hone buried his father and after performing hung his guitar, pad and pen up
for a year suffering from writers block, which was later found to be related to personal grief. With the writers block gone Hone has never felt more comfortable with who he is and where he is going .
You can find Hone playing in and around Byron Bay, Northern NSW and South East QLD......
Hone Matson will be releasing his debut ep = tears for swimming. Available this coming november.
