Electronic music dubstep/dnb/house... Production trio magnifico Dave/Mert/Alex. Look out for Cloudberry Kingdom videogame with music by Blind Digital

Blind Digital is a trio of musicians and producers, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. They are a recent acquisition to the SoundLab roster and love to write and produce complex, progressive tunes which span the genres of electronic music. Most recently, they produced a remix of a track by label-mates Nivanoise, titled Melodrama, which has been rocking dancefloors across Europe.

The group was first formed by Dave Wallace and Alex Jones, around 2008. Dave had been an active musician for most of his life, playing guitar in punk, rock, blues and funk bands since he was a kid and earning himself a reputation as a top player. He began making dance music after being blown away by groups like Justice, the Presets, Boyz Noize and Adam Freeland, taking inspiration from their crossovers into his world of rock and funk. His ear for melody and his obsession with complex sampling makes him a driving force in the group.

After meeting Dave at their mutual workplace, Alex Jones suggested that they jam together and create some beats. Alex had grown up surrounded by hand-me-down mixtapes of electronic music, before playing in punk and metal bands as a youngster. He began DJing in 2005 and soon honed his vinyl chops on psy-trance and hiphop, before discovering the might of drum n bass. Citing his influences as Pryda, Girl Talk, Tipper, Chromeo and too many more to mention, Alex brings his flair for detail, texture and crisp production to the blind digital table.

The guys enlisted Mert Pearson as their 3rd member in late 2011. He had played in bands with Dave since childhood, starting out on the drum-kit and progressing on to bass and guitar to play in punk, dance-rock, funk and blues groups. Mert’s passion for bass frequencies lead him to become obsessed with dubstep and dirty electro, learning from acts such as Digitalism, Vitalic, Boregore and Datsik. Mert enjoys keeping the energy flowing and bringing new ideas, concepts and sounds to the studio.

Blind Digital work closely with Washington based mastering engineer Razik, who supplies them with the sparkle in their hi-hats and the punch in their kick drum.

The lads from Edinburgh are currently deep in the lab, working on several tracks and remixes, striving to throw down the most nastiest, funkiest and face-meltingest sounds that they can think of. They plan to release as much new material and remixes as they can in 2012, on SoundLab records.
