About

"A web of beats and lyrics without restraint, something that sticks in your mind, and makes you move your feet. That's how they are. Live it for yourself or wait for someone else to tell you about it". (Indyrock Magazine, Spain)

"Music for the end of a journey and the beginning of a career" (FNAC, Spain)

A long distance relationship, a common love. Created, molded and maintained directly by social and technological networks such as Facebook, Myspace and Soundcloud. It sounds like a romantic movie but it is the irish pop/rock outfit Blancatranfer and how their unusual work method seems to just work! The singer lives in Madrid bassist and drummer in Ireland. They write songs on-line, exchanging tracks by e-mail, rehearsing separately, but when they get together to play, the pieces fit together very naturally and so was born this peculiar and modern method for being in a band in the 21st Century.

After having moved to Madrid and tried to create different bands, the singer / guitarist Derek Corr thought it was "time to call it a day" and had almost decided to leave music and say goodbye to the formation of more groups. But suddenly he was approached by bassist Drew Kennedy (Ex Royseven, Ireland) on MySpace who agreed to fly to Madrid for a weekend of concerts. This chance meeting turned out better than anyone could have imagined, but it was not until Drew introduced him to drummer Ricky Ryan and sound engineer (soon to be Manager) Andy Keane, that the integral parts of the lineup began to form. When Drew decided to pursue other projects, bassist Keith Colville, friend of Andy and Ricky, joined the band to complete the circle.

The trio (under the watchful eye of Andy Keane in Blueroom Studios Ireland, and Alberto Cabllero in Dopplermedia, Madrid), began sending demos to each other to see which songs would work, trying them live and fine tuning their sound. Which brings us to now. Currently, the band have a series of concerts in Spain and Ireland ahead of them and are mixing new tracks in The Production Suite Dublin (The Human League, Depeche Mode, The Blue Nile, The Waterboy's), Richard Dowling in Limerick (Foo Fighters, Interpol, David Bowie) and Alberto Caballero in Spain (El Canto del Loco, LaUnion, Alejandro Sanz)

So it's really thanks to modern technology, that this band exists, making long distances short, and impossible rehearsals possible. All thanks to new media. The close bond that has sprung from the digital world meets the real world on stage, making for an exciting and energetic live performance.
Blancatransfer is now recording new demos, which will soon be available for their fans.
