ALBUM TRACK-BY-TRACK GUIDE – BY BLAME
On My Own
When I wrote the music for On My Own I was really going back to my roots and my beginning in music. I took inspiration from the early rave sound that got me into producing, so I slowed the tempo and used the drum breaks that I would have used back in those days. Tinchy Stryder heard the instrumental and wanted to jump on it and his take on the track gave my initial idea a whole new meaning. After I saw Tinchy’s tour and the energy on stage between him and his right hand man Fuda Guy from Ruff Sqwad, I decided to also get Fuda involved on the track to capture that energy. Alex Mills vocals on the chorus were the final piece of the jigsaw. For me it’s the best of both worlds, looking back to my early days with the music and looking into the future with the vocals.
