'A Year Of China' is a project made to collect 8,760 hours of audio from China that when played, will last exactly for one year. This enormous document will create a mostly non-visual picture of the life, sounds, and noise of China.

Due to the amount of audio that has come in, separate sets have been created for the previous years to simplify organization.

This Soundcloud is meant to show our progress as well as to allow you to hear the different sounds of China as we receive them. If you have sent us your recordings, please be patient as there is an intricate and mundane system of logging audio into our database so every minute is accounted for.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to download the sounds of the set UNTIL the final audio is released. However, all the audio will be under a Creative Commons license and able to be shared and used by anyone as per the licenses.

Please at least include the date, time, and location for each recording submission. Include an image if you have one and feel free to talk a bit about the recording.

Anyone is welcome to submit recordings they have made in China no matter what the length or when it was recorded. Also, please refrain from only recording copyrighted material such as music, tv, etc. If these sounds are in the background, it is fine but recording the radio may not acceptable.

When complete, an exhibition will be held in Shanghai, China and throughout the world.

All recordings will be under an BY-NC-SA license when released for public download.
