Ryan Smith aka Bison hails from the UK, and is fast gaining his reputation for making hard and dirty dubstep, drum and bass and glitch-hop. Journalists call him: “An incredible, orchestral dubstep experimentalist!” and that he “specializes in big, bad, and heavy bass”. Having released on Proximity Recordings early 2011, Bison was soon picked up by Section 8 Recordings in America.

A flurry of singles and an E.P (The Dawn Of Evolution) at the end of the year followed too much acclaim with features and interviews in Kmag & Hit the floor magazine. 2012 looks to be a busy year for him having signed up to the new label Voodoo Black, with many releases due on this label as well as his releases on Section 8 Recordings.

Bison has played alongside the majority of big drum and bass artists under a different alias in the scene, playing all across the UK as well as parts of Europe. He has had tracks remixed by accomplished artists such as Basher, Endboss, Ogonek, 6Blocc and Shadow-Conspiracy. His tracks are played & supported by the likes of Excision, Downlink, Tony Anthem & Axl Ender, 6Blocc, Adroa, Mark Instinct, Hulk, Culprate, Tomba, Jae Kennady, Suspect, Optical & many more.

His latest release “Quest b/w Music Box” on Section 8 Recordings made number 12 in the Beatport top 100 release of Glitch-Hop, cementing his place within the bass scene.
