when I returned from the restroom, Chris and Thenmozhi were circling, playing some of Charlie's singing bowls. I went to the topmost loft, retrieved the two of the larger bowls, large soft mallets, and headed back down. It was around 1am.

This piece is based off of two recordings made during that brief meditation: one from my iPhone, the other from my Sony PCM-D50. They have received significant digital treatments. There is also a field recording I took the following day from the deck of Charlie's house.

In creating this work, I kept in mind discussions I had with Chris the following day about the ability of technology to reproduce, faithfully, an acoustic experience, which turned on larger discussion the before regarding imaging technology. As the artist, of course, I was only so concerned with true reproduction of our experience that night in the studio, but was certainly influenced by an attempt to creatively follow that line of rationale, and do so with hastily arranged room recordings.
